Randolph surgery center to open next week
October 26, 2011
Central Piedmont Surgery Center, a partnership between Randolph Hospital, local surgeons and Nueterra Healthcare, is scheduled to open next week.
The new $3.1 million free-standing ambulatory surgery center at 724 Thomas St. in Asheboro was built by Landmark Builders and will employ between 12 and 14 people once it opens. It's a new type of business arrangement for the hospital, which has a 68 percent ownership stake in the surgery center.
The center is expected to accommodate 1,600 to 2,000 procedures annually and will be operated by Nueterra, which is based in Kansas and operates more than 70 surgical centers around the country.
"The addition of Central Piedmont Surgery Center will make it possible for area residents to avoid the inconvenience of having to drive long distances for certain surgical procedures," Steve Eblin, chairman of the surgery center's board and vice president at Randolph Hospital, said in a statement.
The surgery center will have a community open house from 2 to 4 p.m on Sunday.
