Accountable Care Organizations
Providers and insurers are quickly moving to form a new type of health care delivery system – the Accountable Care Organization – that is included the health care reform legislation.
The goal of ACOs is to create an increased focused on wellness and prevention, increase the quality of care and reduce costs. ACOs would make providers jointly accountable for the health of their patients, giving them strong incentives to cooperate and save money by avoiding unnecessary tests and procedures. Those that save money while also meeting quality targets will keep a portion of the savings.
Nueterra Healthcare, through the Nueterra Health Alliance, is actively developing ACOs strategies for different markets across the country, leveraging the company's network of 1,500 physician partners and 20 health systems.
New practice models will develop and vary by region. ACOs, medical homes, large independent groups, concierge practices and other models will continue to evolve. Nueterra can help you and your physicians determine the strategy that is right for your market.
